Wow! It has been an amazing month having to go through all the great submissions that were sent in. I would like to thank everyone who did submit and even if you weren’t selected this time I hope you will consider submitting for future issues. You never know what will end up working for each issue. For example this one we were looking for certain art styles and we feel like we were able to get those with the artist chosen. That doesn’t mean other artist had bad art just different styles. That is what I hope will be one of the draws for Journeymen. Each issue and story are going to be different. Well I suppose I have been rambling enough for now. I think I can guess why you are all here. Without further ado…
The stories that were select for the first Journeymen are:
Little Sister by Don Pankievicz
Most stories start out with the question. What if…? Little Sister ask that question about childhood horrors and explores the out come of learning about things that go bump in the night.
Mascherata by Yannick Morin
Harlequin, Pulcinella, Pantalone and all the others – imagine a world where they’re not simply characters but a way of life. From the moment you’re born, it’s already determined what mask you will wear and thus what kind of person you will be. When one man is given the choice between going on with the day-to-day charade or breaking out of his chains, what will he choose? The rough freedom of the pariah of the comforts of a better cage? For you the choice might be simple but not in this world. For where this story takes you, you wear the mask, you play your role and you live the life you’ve been given. Such is the way of MASCHERATA
Steadfast in Peril by Laura Morley
When searching for heroes, one seldom starts among the ranks of the mailmen.
Jago Smith, a young widower in 1910s England, certainly didn’t join those ranks with dreams of fame and glory. But when tragedy strikes during an ocean voyage, ship’s postmaster Jago seizes his shot at heroism with the verve of the greatest adventurer. With the waters rising and his life flashing before his eyes, Jago fights to prove that a struggle without hope is not always a struggle without meaning.
Based on a true story, Steadfast in Peril features a little-known tale of quiet heroism in the face of an infamous tragedy.

I have to say I am staggered by the talent that has agreed to work with us on this first issue. This is only the start of a long hard road, but the end result will be great. For those of you have already backed our Kickstarter project thank you. For those who have been waiting to see just what it is we are bringing then now is your chance to make your decisions about supporting us. I hope you will help us out. On the Kickstarter page you will see some samples of the penciler’s work and some of Walter’s work as well. Those who back the project will be able to see pages as they progress from concept to actual pages that will be found in the comic.
This is just a reminder that Issue #2 submissions open at midnight 1/1/12 and go through 2/29/12
